Dear friends we welcome you to Mosciano Sant'Angelo, a lovely town in Central Easter Italy, in the region of Abruzzo. We are at the initial stage in compiling this blog, with the clear intent to promote and diffuse this incredible medieval borgo. We kindly ask other citizens of Mosciano to contribute with all pertinent information, and hopefully expand the site to a veritable document for all to use and treasure. This blog DOES NOT ACCEPT documents of religious, political or sexual content. For written, photographic and historical content please send to wp@chefwalter.com. The site will give you the source-credit, and will translate your material into English.
Thank you Walter Potenza
The town of Mosciano Sant'angelo is located about 7 miles from the Adriatic coast, resting on a tranquil hill, between the Tordino River on the south and the Salinello River on the north. Ancient Medieval settlement dating back to the 897 AD, based on historical evidences and particularly on a document citing a "Res Musiani", found in a jurisdiction of a local feudal territory. According to historian Vincenzo Bindi: "the Benedictine monks were attracted by the amenities and tranquility of the site", constructed the monastery of S.Angelo, annexed next to the main church, and surrounded by fortress-like walls, creating an ample castle accessed by a single door as entrance and a retreating draw bridge. More info will be added shortly!

Of course I am bias, this is my birthplace, and the location I return to every time I want to return to be a child again!
